NCN August Members Networking

1st August 2024: NCN hosted 105 of its members to an evening of networking at NOIR Gallery in Westlands. The event brought together both long-standing and new members, fostering connections across various climate sectors, industries, and climate professions in Kenya. Abidah Ferej, the new Country Manager for Kenya, was introduced to the members and moderated a speed networking activity, encouraging attendees to interact and connect with peers from different sectors.

Tanzania Climate Network Launch

16th July 2024: The Climate Network launched the Tanzania Climate Network, bringing together 40 members of its Tanzania chapter for an evening of networking at the British High Commissioner's residence in Dar-es-Salaam. Co-Founders, Rehema Mbalamwezi, Syakaa William, Tajiel Urioh, and Annika Richter, shared the network’s plans to build connections and partnerships across climate sectors, industries and professions in Tanzania.

Circular Economy Stakeholder Forum in Nairobi

20th June 2024: EIT Climate-KIC and GrowthAfrica, in collaboration with the Nairobi Climate Network, hosted a Circular Economy Stakeholder Forum in Nairobi at the Dusit Princess in Westlands. This event builds on the “Circular Economy Innovation Cluster Initiative”, launched in 2023 with the support of the IKEA Foundation. The event aimed to kick-start a self-sustaining circular economy innovation cluster to advance circularity in Nairobi.

NCN’s Carbon Summit: Uniting Industry for Action and Solutions

19th June 2024: NCN’s Carbon Summit convened a diverse group of stakeholders, including project developers, regulators, the private sector, and financial institutions for a full day of workshops. The Summit, held at the Brackenhurst Hotel in Limuru was sponsored by Climate Impact Partners and supported by Bowmans Law, Dalberg, and FSD Africa. The aim was to identify action opportunities for Kenya's carbon markets and establish a pathway for the newly formed Carbon Markets Association of Kenya.

23rd May 2024: Following a bustling first quarter, NCN brought together its members for an evening of networking hosted at Botanica - Kitchen and Gin Bar in Westlands. The event brought together old and new members to reconnect and forge new connections across climate sectors, industries, and professions. 27th April 2024: In the wake of the flooding caused by the El Niño rains in various parts of Kenya, NCN organised a community climate visit for members in Mathare Sub-county with Slum Dwellers International. Members had the opportunity to see first-hand the locally-led adaptation efforts undertaken by local urban communities.

25th - 27th March 2024: NCN and our members had a busy carbon markets week delving into several carbon markets events. We kicked off with a Carbon Markets Clinic at Strathmore University and an evening Oxford-style debate in partnership with the World Resources Institute on whether "Carbon Markets present a greater opportunity than threat for sustainable development in Kenya."

8th March 2024: NCN worked with the Constructive Institute to host a group of 20 international journalists on a climate ecosystem tour showcasing some of our member organisation’s climate solutions. Journalism and storytelling play a pivotal role in driving climate action forward. Bringing journalists to witness, learn, and engage firsthand with these innovative climate solutions provides them with a solid foundation and understanding of Africa’s diverse climate solutions in practice.

13th-15th February 2024: NCN partnered with Africa Tech Summit 2024 to help bring the climate agenda to the Summit for its 2024 edition. As the climate-tech industry grows in prominence and opportunities in Kenya, investor attention on climate solutions is growing. By partnering with the summit, we wanted to showcase the climate tech solutions being led by our members and raise the profile of the climate agenda at the Summit.
