We build connections and networks across climate professionals by curating events, improving access to information, and building knowledge for the climate movement.
4th March 2023: We explored topics from the built environment's role in defining and shaping culture and sustainability, tackling plastic pollution through innovation, art and heritage, plus art and its role in youth climate activism.
1st October 2022: Carbon Removals are no longer a nice-to-have, they’re a necessary condition to give us a chance of staying below 1.5 degrees. And Kenya can lead the way.
18th March 2023: Members of NCN took part in a community walking tour of Ngong Road Forest, led by the very knowledgeable scouts from the Community Forest Association. We learnt about the incredible biodiversity, riparian ecosystems and livelihoods that this forest supports as the largest urban green space in Nairobi.
23rd March 2023: Climate Impact Partners and NCN hosted a ‘Carbon Markets Breakfast’ with a group of industry leaders to discuss carbon market policy and Article 6 context in East Africa.
8th December 2022: We celebrated the first year of the network, and announced exciting news with and KawiSafi Ventures, Dalberg, Climate Impact Partners, FSD Africa and BURN becoming our annual sponsors for 2023!
29th July 2023: NCN members embarked on a visit to the Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) Prototype at BuildX Studio, unearthing the promise of Mass Timber construction - an innovative approach to sustainable building that could reshape the future of urban development.
2nd February 2023: We kicked off the New Year with a networking event at Nabo Bistro in Kileleshwa with more than 100 members of the community in attendance.
20th April 2023: The event saw an intimate discussion between climate finance leaders led by panellists Seema Dhanani, CFA from BII, Marcus Watson from KawiSafi, Dorothy Maseke from ICEA Lion and Nicera Wanjiru from Community Mappers.
18th May 2023: Local communities are a critical part of solving the climate crisis. Activists, innovators and entrepreneurs in Kenya are creating solutions and envisaging a sustainable future using the power of art, design innovation, and creativity as catalysts for social change.
15th June 2023: Legal issues can be seriously complex for new start-ups and climate projects in Kenya, from getting the basics right to navigating the changing legislation around carbon markets.
23rd September 2022: We hosted a ‘stage time’ event at Ikigai Nairobi, giving organisations the chance to share their work and get input from their peers. We heard from Tim Cowman, Climate Impact Partners, Sophie Odupoy, KOKO Networks, Diana M. LGT Venture Philanthropy, Ndichu Kariuki, C-Quest Capital, Catrine Shroff, Mwangaza Light and Martin Freimüller, Octavia Carbon.
6th May 2023: ClimateFresk is a collaborative workshop designed to learn about the causes and implications of #ClimateChange in a fun and scientific way. Anyone can play, from novices to experts. For members of NCN, it was an opportunity to gain perspective on the systemic aspect of the climate crisis, where multiple causes and interdependence's call for many different solutions.
22nd June 2023: We hosted a community networking event for NCN members on the sidelines of the Africa Energy Forum. With more than 100 members in attendance it was great to see connections and collaborations being forged across our community!
5th October, 2023: NCN hosted an Open Networking Happy Hour at the Vanguard Lounge in Westlands. This gathering provided an engaging platform for professionals from diverse climate action industries to connect, share insights, and forge meaningful relationships in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
