Providing the ‘Voice of the Industry’ for the Africa Climate Summit

We ran a survey with our network and shared it with 30 other groups across the continent.

The Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi in 2023 will showcase concrete actions and solutions for countries in the global south that are at the forefront of climate change. In preparation, the Climate Envoy and Special Advisor to the President asked NCN to provide the ‘Voice of the Industry’ in the planning and delivery of the Summit.

We ran a survey with our network and shared it with 30 other groups across the continent.

People were asked to share their background, expectations for the Summit, and specific project announcements.

We received more than 300 responses, representing many different types of organisation and in a variety of sectors. Respondents shared innovations they are excited about and the challenges they are facing, as well as ‘asks’ for various stakeholders and expectations for the Summit. They also shared specific initiatives and announcements for the Summit itself across 50+ African countries.

We have completed an initial screening and recommended 129 priority projects, which map to the different session types across the pillars for the Summit.

We have shared the NCN pipeline with Summit coordinators and the team leads for each theme. We will also conduct further analysis on the survey insights and plan to release a public-facing report entitled “Perspectives from Africa’s Climate Leaders” based on our findings to showcase the range, diversity and perspectives of Africa’s Climate Action community at the Summit.
