Networking Event - Africa Climate Summit

4th September 2023: We were delighted to host the official networking side-event on the day 1 of the Africa Climate Summit. Entitled "Networking with Africa's Climate Leaders", the event provided our members with a unique platform to engage with prospective partners, collaborators, investors, suppliers, and customers attending ACS.

Launch of “Perspectives from Africa Climate Leaders” Report

At this event we launched the report “Perspectives from Africa’s Climate Leaders,” which provided a launchpad for the discussions that followed at the Africa Climate Summit.

Flavia Howard, NCN co-Founder, shared highlights from the report, containing insights from 300+ leaders and 25 in-depth interviews, which illuminated the dynamic landscape of climate action across our continent.

Valuable takeaways from the summit included the fact that 32% of climate leaders aimed to enhance their knowledge and expertise at ACS, highlighting a common desire for learning. Equally significant, 57% expressed their interest in networking and forging new partnerships at the summit, making events like ours all the more important to provide that platform for networking and meaningful connections.

Looking back, the Summit was marked by a shared commitment to actionable solutions. This is just the beginning – our momentum continues. Thank you to all who input, including our partners Climate Action Platform for Africa (CAP-A), as well as contributions from the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), High-Level Climate Champions, AECF, C40 Cities, Kenya Environmental Action Network and Climate Action Network International.

The Climate Network – expansion

Wangari Muchiri announced NCN’s ambition  to embark on an expansion journey, reaching new cities across Africa as  ‘The Climate Network.’  She also shared her exciting new role as Director of NCN – more on that soon!

Building on the success of the NCN model, we aim to replicate our community-based and peer to peer knowledge-sharing approach in other locations. Starting off with the East African community we are looking to start new local chapters in Kigali and Dar es Salaam. We welcome outreach from individuals in these two cities who might be interested in taking a leadership role or becoming part of these local groups, kindly connect with us  here.

We welcome outreach from donors interested to collaborate on our next phase of the journey, please reach out to us here. Your support is invaluable as we continue to grow and make a positive impact in new regions.
