NCN’s End of Year Party!

24th November 2023: NCN was excited to bring together its dedicated members and partners for a spirited End-of-Year Party at the enchanting Nairobi Railways Museum. The event was a festive tribute to our collective accomplishments, an expression of gratitude, and a chance to revel in the vibrant community we've become. Amidst drinks, food, and dance, the evening also featured a glimpse into NCN's plans for 2024.

The party aimed to foster shared momentum and energy among members gearing up for COP28 in Dubai. Beyond the festivities, the gathering provided a platform for networking, sharing insights, and building connections among members.

The Nairobi Climate Network grew from just over 300 members at the end of 2022 to 1,125 members in 2023 (so far!). We also brought on board more than 50 Member Organisations and celebrated the growth and depth of our activities.

Flavia Howard shared that with the success of the Network in Nairobi, NCN is planning to replicate the model across multiple cities in Africa starting with Dar es Salam, Tanzania in early 2024. The chapters will be led by local climate professionals in each city so as to be able to implement in-person networking, learning, and themed events and help spark local collaboration. All the different cities chapters will now be housed under The Climate Network which will support and oversee the operations across all chapters. We’re looking for funders and partners to support the next stage of the journey – get in touch!

Héloïse Zimmermann highlighted the successes of the Carbon Markets Working Group in 2023 in helping shape Kenya’s Carbon Regulations. She also encouraged NCN members to propose the creation of additional working groups across various climate themes in the future.

We were thrilled to have many of our sponsors in attendance – the support of Bowmans, BURN, Climate Impact Partners, Dalberg, FSD Africa, and KawiSafi has been a critical part of our expanding activities for the year and we look forward to continued partnership.

The evening wrapped up with guests savouring delicious food, hitting the dance floor, and capturing joyful moments in vibrant photo sessions aboard the trains. A heartfelt thank you to our members for their unwavering support throughout the vibrant journey of 2023 and for bringing their enthusiasm to this delightful celebration!
